Kit-Cat Clock, Black

Comment: I LOVE this clock, so I was severely disappointed when it arrived and didn't work! The animation refused to function, no matter what I did (even going through the substantial list of recommended tweaks the company offered me after I complained). Worse, it stopped keeping time after about 12 hours. I replaced the batteries twice with brand new ones, and continued to have the problem. Customer service told me that they *do not do refunds* but would replace my clock with a new one if I shipped the defective one back to them. I had to pay for shipping (again) and insurance, but they had a fast turnaround time and shipped me a new clock quickly.

This one, the second, is fabulous! The eyes and tail have been going for over 8 hours, when the last clock would only move for about 8 seconds. The time seems accurate, too. I hope that it continues to work, because it makes me smile and I love having it in my kitchen. :)

Pros: looks just like the original Kit Kat Klock I remember from childhood, continuous animation (when clock is not defective), super cute, accurate time, customer service was quick to respond

Cons: expensive, scarily thin plastic components, no refunds from company, no way to tell if your clock is defective upon arrival and it can be very frustrating trying to get it to work, have to pay shipping twice if exchanged

Comment: Being a thrifter, I was lucky to find two of these in black at thrifts (years apart, but there they were). I paid less than $5 each for both.

I have one older model that uses 2 "C" batteries and one newer that uses one "AA" battery.

They're both pretty much the same, the plastic and the design hasn't changed from one to another. The only difference is the batteries. The 2 "C" cells make it a lot heavier of course.

Thes are small, the body of the clock w/o the tail is only 8" tall x 4" W. I did find a great spot for one though, in the hall right between two rooms in the small space on the wall.

I do have to say that troubleshooting can take a while. For a long time I couldn't figure out how to keep the clock moving on one and kind of guessed it would have to be a wall decoration only. Eventually I got it to work but it took a little patience. The trick sometimes is to balance it just right. Reason being is that a magnet inside keeps the tail swinging back and forth. If something is off balance, even by just a little, the clock won't keep swishing its tail and the eyes subsequently won't move either, since they rely on the tail to move.

I never found these creepy but some people liken them to ventriloquist's dummies or those wind-up monkeys that clap cymbals LOL.

I decided to "bedazzle" one of the clocks so I went to a local craft store and got a bunch of clear and red stick-on/press-on rhinestones. Following an illustration/picture that I saw on the Kit Kat website I strategically placed them on one of the clocks and it looks like a retro Kit Kat now :-)

Will keep checking the thrifts, as I don't have the cash to pay full price for one of these. And one of the great things about it is that replacement parts can be ordered through the company!

Comment: This is a small clock, but everytime I look at this clock on the wall in my house; it makes me smile. The clock works properly. It does remind me of the clock my Granny had in her house all those years, except for the fact that her clock worked with an electrical cord. I also received the clock in a timely matter. Comment: No cat lover should be without one of theses classic clocks! When it came, I thought "no way," because the box was so small, but the tail attaches below the clock. It was easy to assemble and hang and looks great.
