Not your ordinary clock chimes-- not tinkley but reverberating just like bells. Only problem and that is minor is adjusting the volume (touchy) which is quite powerful. I have kept it tuned to Whittington chimes as they are 'different'(eight notes every quarter) from the usual Westminster chimes (four notes quarterly). It's quite startling to hear it on the hour playing the 32 notes plus striking the hour. It's very melodic. THe Westminster is more sonorous and deep-throated like "Big Ben" bells and more solemn sounding.
Instructions for the night-time setting should have been written short and sweet by saying "set the switch to AM or PM according to what time it is when you are doing so."

More lovely than I anticipated and all functions well, easy to set up. For the price, it's a fair deal. Hearing the chimes as I walk in the door from a long day is delightful. It's as much as to say, "Hello dear, how was your day?"
Nice Clock,

I like this clock and it satisfies my desire to have a chiming clock after my wall clock gave out. I wish the chimes didn't sound so computerized but this is really just nit-picking on my part. Loud enough.
