Amazon.com Product Review

The R-Wave Wall Clock from Seiko is both a stylish room accent and an accurate timekeeping device. The striking black case with white dial has easy to read black Arabic numerals. R-Wave technology means it is radio controlled and extremely accurate due to their ability to receive signals from the most accurate clock in the world, the cesium atomic clock maintained by the National Institute of Standards in Fort Collins, Colorado. It’s so accurate; it keeps time to within one second in one million years. The clock also adjusts automatically for standard and daylight saving time.

I run a small, home based, clock repair/restoration business. I purchased this clock in order to assist in regulating the accuracy of mechanical clocks after being serviced. I have trusted the Seiko name for dependability and accuracy when it comes to quartz movements. This particular quartz clock synchronizes itself with the atomic clock via radio signals from Boulder, Colorado at specified times during a 24 hour day. This process insures the clock is extremely accurate at all times. I own two other radio controlled clocks and have been very pleased with their accuracy. By the way, these radio controlled clocks reset themselves for Daylight Saving Time, which is very convenient.

The Seiko is large enough to be seen in my workroom and the black hands and numbers against the white face are easy to read. The clock is encased in plastic and the face is covered in acrylic. The clock takes a AA battery and should run, according to the manual, for approximately a year...Read more

Had bought this for the SEIKO label - but was disappointed and returned it.

It took 2 days for the clock to sync up with the Atomic Clock signal - was not sure if it was a defective piece or the usual for this item. Returned this clock for this and another issue with the seller (it was returned by the previous buyer, and they sent me that returned piece).

Another item to note - the numbers and markings are actually painted on the clear cover - not the white dial. Very unusual design. As a result, they cast a shadow on the dial - which depends on the angle of light and from the positon you are looking at the clock.

I have had this clock for some months now, and it works perfectly. If you look around at the other Rwave reviews, they are good. This clock uses the same movement. The only difference is the housing that surrounds the movement. Like most manufacturers they make one movement, and have several faces that fit that movement. I always find it funny that items get reviewed so critically, then the almost identical item gets great reviews. Anyhow, this clock works well and I can assume, as an owner of two other Seiko clocks and two Seiko chronograph watches, that it will also give years of service. I do get a good WWV signal here in Montana, and all my synced clocks work well. I did live in an old house recently that was plaster inside. That plaster is attached to chicken wire running all through that house. (a giant Faraday cage) None of my radio clocks worked there, Seiko or Oregon Scientific, even with a strong signal outside. So it depends on your location and the construction of...Read more
