It has a UTS WWVB radio controlled receiver built in with its two motor drive mechanism. It has quartz movement and would function as a standard battery operated clock if the radio receiver on it ever failed. Setting it is relatively fool proof. Install a new alkaline battery, press a time zone, put the clock in a west facing window and wait for the clock to sync to the radio signal from NIST. However, if you wait too long to put a fresh battery in when replacing the spent one, the clock might not display the correct time in hours when the clock syncs with the radio transmitter in Ft. Collins, CO. If this happens and your clock is more than four hours off, remove the faceplate and manually move the hour hand to the correct time. It is best to do this at any hour except 12:00 since the hour hand will line up with the number on the dial exactly. It looked like steel in pictures but is entirely plastic; however it looks good anyway. |
