Amazon.com Review

Vintage styling and a built-in radio make this Seth Thomas Baxter alarm clock an ideal bedside companion. Combining silver-tone cast metal accents with black wooden casing; the clock looks smartly-retro yet has up-to-date functionality. An AM/FM radio is controlled by central dials. The clock also includes a snooze function and fully-illuminated face. Charmingly-square, the face contributes to the clock’s fashionable look with stylized Arabic numerals and simple hands. Though AC-powered, the clock includes a single AA battery backup for the unexpected. A great gift for college students, new graduates, and vintage enthusiasts, the clock measures 4 by 8 by 2-5/8 inches, and carries a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

The Seth Thomas is, of course, of a high quality. The finish of the cabinet fits well with the nightstand, and the footprint is less than half of the Bose unit. The display is easily readable across the room, but not so bright that it keeps me awake at night. The sound quality is no match for the Bose, but all this unit has to do is wake me up. I may lay in bed for a while and listen to the news, but I don't use the radio feature during the day and I don't fall asleep to music (that's what books are for).

The one negative for this unit is that the analog alarm is not as precise as the digital alarms on other units. I used to set the Bose for 6:27 am so that I would be awake...Read more
