I ordered this clock as a gift for someone who just bought a cabin. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the metal is prettier than imagined from the photo - it is made to look like an older clock that has been around for a while: where you can see the brass shining through in several places - so it is not just painted flat black. It is a heavy clock and seems very well made. Great quality for the price.
